How does someone thank their doctor for giving them their life back? Dr Steinberg did just that for me. I have struggled with a journey of Parsonage-Turner Syndrome and severe carpal tunnel syndrome since Dec 2023. It took several months, several doctors and multiple MRI's, X-Rays and various other tests to finally come to a diagnosis. The symptoms consisted of severe pain in my right shoulder eventually radiating through my arm around my elbow down to my hand. The pain was extremely severe for several months then slowly began to subside. After about 5 weeks from the onset I lost the use of my right hand. My right hand is my dominant hand. My thumb and fingers had the strength of jello, almost useless. I had to pick my right hand up with my left hand to move it. Gradually my thumb muscles began to atrophy making the use of my thumb nearly non-existent. Testing ruled out spinal issues, neck issues and spinal decompression treatments helped keep any of these components from becoming a problem. Neurological testing revealed carpal tunnel pressure on the nerves and an additional crush somewhere along the way further up in the shoulder indicating Parsonage Turner issues. Dr Steinberg performed carpal tunnel release surgery which was successful and eventually allowed some thumb movement, giving me limited use of my thumb but it was definitely an improvement. As I slowly healed from the effects of Parsonage Turner I could use my hand again for everyday tasks. Six months after my surgery my thumb just quit working. Evidently the nerve crush in my shoulder finished off the muscle holding my thumb joint in place. I did hand therapy and home exercises trying to build up the muscles at the base of my thumb. I had zero thumb strength, zero use of my thumb and nothing helped. I returned to Dr Steinberg hoping he could help me. He evaluated all the testing I had done and did his own in office testing on my hand strength and thumb use. I had severely atrophied muscles at my thumb base that could not be recovered or strengthened. He recommended a tendon transfer surgery that would reroute a tendon that extended from my wrist into my hand then very carefully use that tendon and weave it through the base of my hand to attach it to the non-functioning joint in my thumb to give it strength. He was very upfront about the complexity of the delicate surgery and the painful long recovery. He explained the process in detail and made sure I understood that my hand would never be the same but that he had confidence that this procedure would give me use of my hand. To give you an idea of what my hand was like before surgery, securely tape your thumb to your hand then try to use your hand normally. You will find that all basic everyday activities rely on using your thumb along with your fingers to complete any task. It is almost impossible to do anything without the proper use of your thumb. I had surgery on 9/2/25 and tolerated the procedure well. Dr Steinberg, as always was very meticulous, dedicated, focused and skilled in rerouting my tendon to gently weave it around nerves and tissue to secure it to the joint. His expertise, experience and knowledge gave me my life back! He was very accurate on the painful recovery, extremely accurate on the length of recovery and painful occupational therapy - all necessary for the best result and recovery. I had a few different casts and eventually a splint then started occupational therapy with Johnny, an exceptional therapist affiliated with Dr. Steinberg. He was an integral part in working with my hand recovery. It has been a very long 2 year journey from first onset of Parsonage Turner and carpal tunnel issues. Dr Steinberg has been instrumental all along the way, he willingly worked with all of my other doctors to try and find the source of my shoulder, arm, hand problems. I am now 3 1/2 months into recovery and am continually amazed at the results. I have full use of my right hand, full use of my thumb and I have been given my life back. I have been using my left hand for most everything. I can now dress myself, cook, bake, clean, I can write again and most importantly sew and quilt again! I am an avid seamstress and quilter that can once again do complicated handwork on my projects. I have strength in my hand and my thumb is continuing to gain strength. I once didn't have enough strength to pinch a clothes pin or seal a zip lock bag. When I used the hand strength meter before surgery it was a 4 it is now a 25, the thumb strength meter registered a zero and it is now an 18. So how do I thank Dr. Steinberg for giving me my life back? By saying how grateful I am to him, to Taylor and all of his staff along with my therapist Johnny for all working together and allowing me to experience a miracle of 90% restoration of the use of my hand. I can now do just about everything that I used to be able to do before all of this started. I continue to be amazed by the complexity of this tendon transfer surgery and how completely amazed I am each day by the strength and ability I have in using my hand again. The journey has been painful, difficult, depressing and challenging but with the love and support from my amazing husband and family and the absolute skill, dedication and devotion to excellence of Dr Steinberg, his staff and Johnny; I can say I am living my best life and I am forever grateful. Dr Steinberg took the time to really listen and hear me and my frustration through all of this and was willing to come up with a solution that worked. Thank you Dr Steinberg for all that you have done for me and I am forever in your debt. God Bless!

Let me begin by saying, By recommendation, I made the right decision to use Dr. Bruce Steinberg. Years of experience, And many many success stories of his surgeries gave me no doubt that he could repair my injury successful.
I appreciate very much, his straightforward aggressive plan to repair and to inform me as to how I should proceed to allow time for the proper healing of the repair work.
This required I remain in a pillow sling for 12 weeks, not using my arm at all, allowing the healing process. Patience was required having to sleep in a chair this whole time, but I meant to follow direction so I would not have to go through this again.
OT therapy started immediately after the surgery with my therapist Johnny, who has worked with Dr. Steinberg for many years. Johnny patiently and generally worked with me week by week to give my shoulder movement again without causing any damage. I cannot say enough about his knowledge and ability to bring me back to normal under the guidance of Dr. Steinberg. I highly recommend him as a therapist who I have come to know and enjoy being around. He loves his work and has had hundreds and hundreds of success stories in recovery.
Again, I cannot say enough as to Dr. Steinberg‘s ability and dedication to his work and one who loves to see His work completed To his satisfaction and that of the patient. I have already highly recommended him to friends of mine that are dealing with shoulder injuries. They are moving forward to have an appointment with the Dr. Steinberg.
Again, a big thank you, Dr. Steinberg, for giving me my left arm back so I could continue working and enjoying life.
PS, I hope that Dr. Steinberg will be able to see this testimonial, it comes from the heart.

I have been treated by Dr. Steinberg for trigger finger release on both hands and the results are excellent. He recently did a carpal and cubital tunnel release on my right wrist and elbow and the results are fantastic. The doctor and his staff are super. I only wish Dr. Steinberg specialized in everything because then I would not need to see any more doctors.

“Perfection” might seem like a challenging term to use in regards to a highly complex surgical procedure like the one I went through last May, but Doctor Steinberg actually achieved that exact level of performance on all fronts. The operation itself was 100s% successful. My rotator cuff was completely repaired and my upper bicep was perfectly reattached. But that entire level of success wasn’t the only factor that lead to my shoulder’s complete healing. Doctor Steinberg’s “perfection” as a top orthopedic surgeon stems from both his meticulously professional focus on the procedure itself, along with his equally meticulous follow-up tracking of every ounce of rehab sessions and their ongoing results. He and his team track improvements in strength, range of motion, levels of resistance and his patients’ own commitments to consistent, daily home exercises. I’m coming up on my 6-month anniversary of my surgery and my shoulder is as healed and fully restored as I could have ever hoped and prayed for. Doctor Steinberg is the absolute best orthopedist there is, and every seriously injured patient in North Florida needs to know this! 🥰

Dr Steinberg so far has put gel pads in three of my fingers which were annoyingly painful n with bone on bone arthritis. No pain now and movement of my fingers is restored. I like playing piano and working on my 55 Thunderbird and these are comfortable and enjoyable again.

Dr. Steinberg and his team are simply outstanding. Very professional and personable. My surgery (carpel Tunnel Release & ulna nerve release) went very smoothly- without any discomfort. I was in a soft cast for 12 days - very little pain after surgery - easily managed. Follow-up appointment was great - explained all instructions in detail and in easy to understand terms. This was my third surgery from Dr. Steinberg and I highly recommend him and his staff - they're Great!

No one really says they have an amazing experience after surgery but the team at Dr Steinberg’s office did just that. I had a simple question…when can I type ( get back to work)… everyone who came in to see me made sure they addressed that one basic concern. At the end of the day, they made me feel like they understood how important that simple task was and gave me advice on how to achieve my simple goal so I feel like I am moving towards my recovery instead of feeling limited. Thank you to the entire staff for helping me on my way to recovery both physically and mentally.
